Rupert can find meeting new people worrying and is not comfortable around strangers, so he is looking for a quiet home with minimal visitors and a location where he can enjoy quieter walks without meeting lots of other dogs. He is not suitable to live with children, as he is uncomfortable with being overhandled and has shown signs of worry around both children and unfamiliar adults. Rupert is also vocal and reactive when he sees other dogs, so he will need to be the only pet in the home and cannot live with dogs, cats, or small furries. With patient, experienced owners who will give him the time and understanding he needs, Rupert will make a loyal and rewarding companion for someone who appreciates his gentle, independent nature. Rupert Bear is a handsome 7-year-old boy looking for a calm, understanding experienced adult-only home where he can truly relax. He has settled well into foster care and has shown himself to be a calm, independent companion who enjoys having his own space while still liking to know his people are nearby. Rupert loves a gentle fuss and will happily seek out affection when he's ready. He is fully housetrained, sleeps happily on his own bed, and can be left for a few hours once he has settled into his new routine. He gets excited for his walks, especially when he has plenty of time for a good sniff and explore. Rupert would thrive with experienced owners who understand canine body language, will respect his boundaries, and are committed to continuing his positive, reward-based training. Adopters will need to meet a multiple times here at the centre before going home and he does have some minor on going medical to be discussed on application.
