Adopt Willow

Poodle · Female · Young · 3 years

Willow is a sweet affectionate girl who loves a fuss and chilling out on the sofa with her favourite people. She loves running around and playing with her toys and is learning to search for them when they are hidden around the garden. Willow loves nothing more than long sniffy walks, paddling in the river and meeting up with her dog friends for a walk. Even though she does socialise with other dogs, Willow would prefer to be the only pet in the home. Willow has learnt to be protective about her space, so advice will be given on how to manage this in the home on a daily basis and when visitors should visit. It would help Willow if she had her own 'safe' space to go to if she feels unsure around unknown people coming into the home or if she just needs time-out to herself. Once you are besties with Willow, she is the most affectionate and loyal dog to go on adventures with! She is good in the car and will sit nicely on the back seat with a harness safely attached. She is a very intelligent dog and loves to learn new tricks and commands and this is a good way to build that bond with her. If you think you can offer Willow a home and are willing to continue on with her training needs, then with time and patience, she has the potential to flourish in the home. Willow is very sweet affectionate and clever girl looking for outdoor adventures with her new family. She is looking for a adult only home that is calm and quiet, with a consistent daily routine. Willow will need a home with a private garden to chill out in and an area indoors suitable for baby gates to be put into place, which will help with her routine around spaces and visitors. Potential adopters will need to be able to commit to multiple meets at the centre to get to know her at her pace. She loves her treats, and this will be great motivator for her continued training when in the home environment. Willow's new home will need to be within an hour's drive of the Bridgend centre, so that we can offer support for both owner and Willow.

About Willow

What life with Willow looks like

Willow is a young adult poodle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Bridgend in Mid Glamorgan.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Willow, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Willow?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Bridgend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Willow on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Willow if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Bridgend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Willow already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Willow isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Bridgend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Willow and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
