Rupert

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel · Male · Young · 3 years

21-09-26 Rupert has come to us from a breeder to find his forever home. He is the sweetest boy who is understandably a little worried and overwhelmed to find himself here. He has recently moved into foster with a member of staff and is loving learning all about home life for the very first time. He is settling in really well and is already enjoying discovering all the lovely things that come with being in a home. He is a lovely boy but can be a little worried and overwhelmed at the moment, which is understandable. He can be spooked by loud noises and will need love and TLC as he settles into his new life. Once Rupert gets to know you he absolutely loves fuss and cuddles and we think he is going to adore being someone's special boy. He is very people focused and so can show signs of separation anxiety and become quite clingy. His adopters will need to understand this and be prepared to work with him gently, building up the time he is left alone very gradually so that he can learn that being apart from his family is nothing to worry about. Because Rupert is so people focused, we would consider homing him as an only dog in the right circumstances, with adopters who have plenty of time to spend with him. He does love the company of other dogs though, and could happily share his home with another kind resident dog. He is also fine with cats, so could potentially live with a dog savvy cat. We would consider homing him with dog savvy teenagers aged 13+. Rupert has never lived in a home before moving into foster, so there is still lots for him to learn. His adopters will need to be kind and patient as he continues to learn about home life and house training. He is also new to walking on a lead and harness and will need plenty more practice as his confidence grows. Rupert is such a loving and affectionate boy who is already showing us just how much he enjoys being part of a family. We hope to find him a wonderful home where he can continue to blossom, receive all the love and attention he adores, and become someone's very special boy. This dog can be homed with a resident dog. About Rupert

What life with Rupert looks like

Rupert is a young adult cavalier king charles spaniel dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rupert, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rupert?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rupert on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rupert if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rupert already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rupert isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rupert and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
