ProfileAge: born around November 2024. Gender: female. Spayed: no (will be done before departure)Character: very friendlySize: about 42 cmSince in shelter: May 2026Family: her puppies RW 23 and RM 22Some stories you never forget. And the story of Mama RW 16 will remain forever in our hearts. On May 1st, we were on our way to the shelter in Romania. The sun was shining, people were everywhere, the mood was cheerful. On the markets, people laughed, celebrated, and enjoyed life.On the way to the shelter, suddenly a small puppy ran directly onto our road. We braked immediately. Our hearts stopped. The cars were driving fast and without consideration. Seconds later, we saw the mama and another puppy by the roadside. It was clear right away: They couldn't stay here. We tried to stay calm, gently lured the small family towards the field, away from the road. The mama was incredibly friendly. Despite everything she must have experienced, she approached us without aggression, without mistrust. Her puppies followed curiously behind. They let themselves be fed, stroked, and enjoyed every moment of attention as if they hadn't had anyone kind to them for a long time. The decision was made within minutes: This small family had to come with us. The danger on this road was simply too great. For the puppies. But also for the mama, who risked her life every day to protect her children. When we went back to the car and put some treats inside, the mama almost voluntarily jumped in. This moment touched us deeply. It was almost as if she understood that she no longer had to fight alone. Upon arriving at the shelter, the three had to wait for a few hours in a cage until their accommodation was prepared. There were soft blankets, fresh water, and finally safety. And then something happened that deeply affected us: The small family drank a little, cuddled together, and slept for hours deeply and soundly - despite the construction noise around them. It seemed as if the mama could finally let go. As if the responsibility of constantly having to watch over her babies was finally beginning to fall away. In the evening, the family was allowed to move into their new accommodation. A warm hut, blankets, water, and food awaited them there. Reluctantly, the mama left her first warm place, but she quickly understood that this was now her safe area. She enjoys every attention, every loving touch. And we have made a promise to her: We have taken her from freedom - therefore we definitely don't want her to have to stay in the shelter for long. The beautiful RW 16 is a wonderful, affectionate dog who has cared for her puppies with dedication and devotion. She is beautiful and will surely shine in full glory with some fur care. Now she only needs one thing: People who show her that her journey can finally have a happy ending.Where are her people, who would like to give her a home?Interested? If you are interested in RW 16, please fill out our application form () or write us an email at or a message via Facebook. RW 16 is ready for adoption and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system used to monitor all animal traffic within the EU. The dogs leave spayed (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Furthermore, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted on dogs over 12 months before departure: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilaria, and Leishmaniosis. Help through sponsorship:Additionally, RW 16 wishes for a kind godparent who, with the help of a sponsorship, gives her a beautiful name and thus helps her gain an identity that increases her chances of a good future.

SteckbriefAlter: ca. November 2024 geboren. Geschlecht: weiblich. Unser Herz stand still.

About Maribel

What life with Maribel looks like

Maribel is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maribel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maribel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maribel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maribel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maribel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maribel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maribel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
