SAAR (F) 4 years OLD LOOKING FOR A FOSTER FAMILY OR TO BE ADOPTED BY BorderLineCollie Characteristics Date of birth: 29/12/2019 Sex: Female Registered with LOF/LOSH/ISDS: No Disabilities: No Child compatibility: from 16 years old Dog compatibility: not on a leash but usually free yes Cat compatibility: NO Other compatibility: unknown Character Saar is described by her owners as smart and gentle. Once she knows you, she is very enthusiastic and very affectionate. Her ball and frisbee are the most important to her. However, as she is very smart, she has also learned inappropriate things. Saar feels threatened quickly when strangers get too close to her. She then starts growling and nipping. This is also how she protects her bowl, and when she is overexcited, her bed at night. If you get too close, she can pinch you. Due to these behavioral issues with Saar, changes in life and full-time jobs of the owners, it was decided to ask BorderLineCollie to find a more suitable home for Saar. History Saar came to live with her owners when she was still a puppy. She was supposed to stay with the in-laws during workdays. This was not possible because of Corona. Saar found people with crutches or different clothes very frightening, especially men. Inside, Saar pinched the feet of her owner and her father-in-law. A behavior therapist was consulted for this behavior, but Saar's behavior did not change because the owner did not act and did not apply the instructions consistently. The owners lost confidence in Saar due to incidents related to nipping, loud barking, and vigorous pulling on the leash during walks. Saar is used to being in a cage, can be alone for several hours, knows all kinds of commands, and has no problem traveling by car. Outside, Saar collects anything with small wheels that make noise. She barks at moving trucks and buses. She is not a fan of fireworks or New Year's celebrations and the noisy flies. Saar is not tested with sheep. BLC is looking for adopters who will give Saar back her confidence by spending time and energy on her so that life with humans becomes attractive again. But who will also work with her outside the house so that walks become enjoyable and not stressful. Furthermore, Saar will need mental and physical stimulation. About SAAR

What life with SAAR looks like

SAAR is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Border Line Collie in borderlinecollie.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting SAAR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SAAR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Border Line Collie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SAAR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SAAR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Border Line Collie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SAAR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SAAR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Border Line Collie early rather than rehoming privately; they know SAAR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
