Sable

Mixed Breed Cat · Female · Senior · 12 years

Hi, I'm the gorgeous Sable! I was found by a member of the public in poor condition and taken straight to the vets. Despite being an old girl with few teeth I am very chatty! I love to be a little bit of a shadow and follow people around as well and have a good snuggle so I am really looking for a home where I can retreat to a sofa and snooze for as long as possible. I would like to be the princess of the house and live without other cats or dogs and only children over the age of 12. I have a condition called IBD so I am on some special food to help my tummy as it can be sensitive. I will need to continue on this but the staff will explain this to you in more detail. I will also need regular checks with my vet because of this. You will need to have had experience with cats and I would love to have some outdoor space once I am settled so I can spend some time relaxing outside. If you think you could be my forever home please click the 'Apply Here' button and fill my application out. I look forward to meeting you xx

About Sable

What life with Sable looks like

Sable is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at Yorkshire Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sable, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sable?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Yorkshire Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sable on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sable if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Yorkshire Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sable already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sable isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Yorkshire Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sable and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
