We accepted Sagy as an older female dog found curled up in a ball by the stream outside the village. Alone. Exhausted. No one was looking for her, no one claimed her. As if she had ceased to exist for the world for a moment. It was immediately clear that she carried a heavy story. Her bones protrude from her body, she has minimal strength, and her trust in the surroundings is slowly returning. Our vet Ivča examined her directly at the shelter, and even during the listening it was evident that her heart was not in good condition. In the near future, she will undergo a cardiological examination, which will provide more information about the next steps. Currently, Sagy has warmth, calm, a full bowl, and people who believe in her. And that's the basis from which she can be rebuilt. Sagy is a gentle dog grandmother. Clean, with no problems during regular walks. She likes walks and handles walking on a leash beautifully. She gets along well with other dogs, enjoys car travel. She hears poorly and has a slight cataract in her eyes, which is nothing unusual for an elderly dog, rather another reason for consideration. Above all, she is very "human": sensitive to quick movements, perceptive of moods, and needs a quiet, predictable environment. When she has calm and feels safe, she can slowly open up. Then she becomes a gentle companion who enjoys quiet closeness and affection. Human hands are a safe place for her. She needs a gentle approach, patience, and a home without unnecessary chaos. We cannot reliably assess her relationship with children, so we are looking for a quieter household. Sagy is currently on medication for her kidneys, which she takes properly, and she will soon go to the cardiologist. We're hoping the examination goes as well as possible and Sagy can continue to spread her quiet "thank you for being with me". We are looking for temporary care for Sagy. For Sagy, we are looking for a temporary home. All care is fully paid: everything she needs will be provided. From the temporary family, we mainly need love, a safe environment, occasional updates on how Sagy is doing, and nice photos. When the doctor came to examine her at the shelter, it was already clear during the normal listening of her little heart that something was wrong. The sounds did not seem right, so we didn't want to underestimate anything. In an older female dog, the heart is a crucial matter, so a professional examination followed to know exactly what we were dealing with and how to set up the best care for her. Sagy has a heart rhythm disorder (AV block third degree) and a mild aortic insufficiency. The good news is that the heart itself is structurally in good condition, without failure and without significant changes on the valves. We have found temporary care! We have great news for Sagy. We managed to find temporary care for her with an experienced lady who regularly takes older dogs home for their final days and gives them the most valuable thing: calm, security, and a real family. Exactly the kind of place Sagy needed. Instead of a kennel run, she now has a cushion; instead of uncertainty, certainty and a person who understands senior dogs and their pace. However, Sagy remains in the care of the shelter. We cover all veterinary expenses and remain fully responsible for her. Thanks to this, she can have the secure environment of a home and the assurance that she will be taken care of in every way.
