Saka

Male · Young · 2 years

Meet Saka our 2 year old male Patterdale Cross available for adoption through Pawprints Dog Rescue. While he may not be ready to take penalties at Wembley just yet, this young lad is looking for a team of his own to cheer him on whether in the Midlands or further afield He is a small/medium sized lad with a gentle heart and a cheeky personality that’s just beginning to shine through, he can be nervous when meeting new people and will need time, patience, and understanding to build trust with his new family. Watching him come out of his shell is incredibly rewarding, and we know the right home will help him continue to flourish. For this reason, we may need potential families to meet him multiple times at the kennels before taking him home. He has been able to walk alongside other dogs, but he prefers having his own space and has shown some guarding behaviours towards dogs. For this reason, he is looking for a home where he can be the only dog, and he cannot live with small furries. He would benefit from adopters who have experience helping nervous/ rescue dogs gain confidence and who understand that progress comes through kindness, consistency, and allowing him to move at his own pace. A secure garden is essential, giving him a safe place to relax, explore, and build confidence in his new surroundings. In the right home, we can imagine this lovely boy becoming an incredible companion. As he gains confidence, he is likely to enjoy scenic walks and sharing life’s quieter moments with his people. He is searching for an understanding family who will celebrate the small victories, give him the time he needs to settle, and help him discover just how wonderful life can be. If you have a calm, adult only home, a secure garden, and plenty of love to give, you could be the perfect match for this special little dog.

About Saka

What life with Saka looks like

Saka is a small young adult dog waiting at Pawprints Dog Rescue in Stretton-on-Dunsmore.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pawprints Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pawprints Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pawprints Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
