Adopt Sakira

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Sakira is a genuine Spanish Greyhound female dog and has already brought down something like a lion. Okay, not quite, it was two chickens and they now sadly reside in Chicken Heaven. Sakira's former owner was reported by the chicken owner and had to pay a fine of 900€. Sakira then lost her home and is now in our animal shelter Mi Fiel Amigo. Sakira is not aware of any guilt and has a really wonderful personality (apart from the fact that her instincts can also come to the fore). Sakira is super social, always in a good mood, and very clingy. At the animal shelter, she is very much loved by everyone because she is simply wonderful and goes through the day with great cheerfulness. Sakira loves to play and all she wishes for is to have her own home again. Very likely, Sakira also wishes for more chickens, which we would not recommend. Due to her genes, a lightning-fast hunter is embedded in Sakira, and she can do it, as she has already proven. Our home for Sakira would be something like this: preferably with Greyhound enthusiasts and lovers, or those who want to become one. It should be thoroughly informed about the breed beforehand so that Sakira does not have to start anew, only because it was not considered that Greyhounds have special requirements. At home, the best couch potatoes, but outside on point and usually with a pronounced prey drive. Nice to stroll alongside the bicycle without a leash? Not really recommended. As a high-percentage sight hunter, the Greyhound, and thus Sakira, decides in the blink of an eye to go into a sprint, and nothing but a cloud of dust remains for the owner to see. Due to the high speed a Greyhound can achieve, one does not want to imagine what could happen. Therefore, we also wish for Sakira a well-fenced and secure yard, or another usable fenced area where she can regularly act on her nature. Otherwise, it's leash or drag line and also a good eye to think along, because Sakira thinks fast when it comes to prey. To people, Sakira is super, super loving – in contrast to chickens. Sakira would certainly not mind quiet and dog-experienced children, if they respect her downtime and accept her as a family member. Anyone who has fallen in love with this streamlined beauty, wants to expand their Greyhound pack, or has other reasons to adopt Sakira, is welcome to contact Sakira's contact person. We look forward to a home for Sakira without chickens and other reachable small animals.

Schön ohne Leine neben dem Fahrrad her schlendern?

About Sakira

What life with Sakira looks like

Sakira is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sakira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sakira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sakira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sakira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sakira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sakira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sakira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
