Sakura is een prachtige poes van ongeveer 3 jaar oud. Haar bijzondere naam heeft ze te danken aan de plek waar ze gevonden is: de Japanse tuinen van het Maximapark. Omdat deze locatie zo speciaal is, vonden wij dat daar een passende Japanse naam bij hoorde. Sakura heeft in haar jonge leven al het nodige meegemaakt. Ze werd door de dierenambulance bij ons binnengebracht en sindsdien doen we er alles aan om haar een veilige en rustige omgeving te bieden. Een plek waar ze stap voor stap kan leren dat mensen ook vriendelijk en betrouwbaar kunnen zijn. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt Sakura misschien een zelfstandige poes die zich prima redt, maar in werkelijkheid is ze erg onzeker en vindt ze veel dingen nog spannend. Nieuwe mensen, onverwachte geluiden of veranderingen in haar omgeving kunnen haar behoorlijk van haar stuk brengen. Daarom heeft ze veel tijd, geduld en begrip nodig om zich veilig te voelen. Nu ze ons steeds beter leert kennen, zien we gelukkig kleine stapjes vooruit. Zo durft ze inmiddels voorzichtig te eten terwijl wij in de buurt zijn en raakt ze langzaam gewend aan onze aanwezigheid. Voor Sakura is dat een enorme overwinning. Haar toekomstige eigenaar zal haar tempo moeten respecteren en geen verwachtingen hebben over hoe snel zij zich zal ontwikkelen. Iedere stap die Sakura zet, hoe klein ook, is er één om trots op te zijn. Voor Sakura zoeken we een zeer rustig huishouden met één of maximaal twee ervaren personen. Een huis zonder kinderen, zonder plannen voor kinderen. Eventueel zou ze geplaatst kunnen worden bij een stabiele rustige poes die andere katten gewend is. Ze heeft behoefte aan een stabiele, voorspelbare omgeving waarin ze alle ruimte krijgt om zichzelf te zijn. In haar nieuwe thuis zal ze in eerste instantie een eigen kamer nodig hebben om rustig te kunnen wennen. Van daaruit zal moeten blijken welke stappen ze nog gaat maken. Hoe ver ze uiteindelijk zal komen, kunnen we niet voorspellen. Sakura heeft voldoende ruimte nodig om zich terug te trekken, maar ook om op ontdekkingstocht te gaan wanneer ze daar klaar voor is. Een ruim appartement of huis met meerdere kamers zou daarom goed bij haar passen. Hoewel ze waarschijnlijk vooral binnenshuis zal leven, zou een veilig afgezet balkon een prachtige toevoeging zijn. Zo kan ze op haar eigen manier genieten van frisse lucht, geluiden van buiten en een zonnetje op haar snoet. Sakura is geen poes die direct op schoot zal springen of meteen knuffels komt halen.
