Adopt Salcio

Male · Adult · 4 years

Small Salcio got stuck in the snow drifts, that he finally ended up in the animal shelter. With a messy coat and a somewhat suspicious look, he came to us, and although he is generally a confident, independent, and curious dog, he was speechless with amazement at so many new things, barking dogs, smells and unknown places, and it took him a while before he revealed all the advantages and skills he has. Namely, Salcio walks calmly on a leash, rides in a car, feels comfortable as a guest, and for those he knows, he asks for a proper scratch under the chin. Salcio arrived at the animal shelter with a somewhat mischievous brother, which makes him very patient and well-mannered when interacting with other dogs. On the yard, he met many female dogs and several males and always behaves elegantly. During walks, bigger dogs make him uneasy and he prefers to step aside to pass such "giants" in a wider arc. Salcio probably comes from rural areas - he arrived at the animal shelter neglected, but is now in good shape and mood, made great progress and trusted strangers quickly, so we suspect that adaptation to home conditions will proceed equally smoothly. Due to his rural background, he will probably feel best in a slightly quieter neighborhood outside the strict city center. We invite you to meet Salci!

Drobny Salcio tak się zawieruszył w zaspach śnieżnych, że finalnie trafił do schroniska. Z potarganą czupryną i nieco podejrzliwym spojrzeniem zawitał do nas i choć generalnie jest pieskiem pewnym siebie, niezależnym i ciekawskim, to w obliczu tylu nowości, zatrzęsienia piesków, zapachów i nieznanych miejsc, aż oniemiał z wrażenia i trochę mu zajęło zanim odkrył przed nami całą gamę atutów i umiejętności, jakie posiada. About Salcio

What life with Salcio looks like

Salcio is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Salcio, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Salcio?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Salcio on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Salcio if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Salcio already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Salcio isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Salcio and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
