Adopt Sally

Female · Adult · 9 years

Our wonderful Sally is gaining more and more trust in humans at her foster home. In the last few days, there was a breakthrough: Her foster mom was able to pet her for the first time - what a great progress for Sally. Sally was born around 2016-2017 and has been in a foster home in Bad Camberg (Hessen) for just a few weeks. Originally, this lady in her prime comes from Spain. There, she had been in the colony at El Refugio since its founding in 2018, which is run by our Spanish partners on site. Sally is a beautiful but reserved female cat, estimated to be around 8 to 9 years old. At the foster home, where she is also called Smilla, she remains very reserved and does not yet fully trust people. But with time, a lot of patience, and calm, she will feel more and more secure and will gradually approach the big, scary humans. Currently, she lives with her former friend Katy, with whom she has been together since the beginning in the colony in Spain and got along very well. Unfortunately, at the foster home, the two female cats do not get along as well and do not interact with each other. Sally would probably benefit from a relaxed and confident cat in her new home, who can show her that humans can be trusted. Sally is already vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered. Additionally, she tested negative for FiV and FeLV. Who will give this beautiful female cat a understanding home?

About Sally

What life with Sally looks like

Sally is a large adult cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sally, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sally?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sally on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sally if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sally already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sally isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sally and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
