ProfileAge: born around March 2026. Gender: male. neutered: noCharacter: very friendly, puppy-like playfulSize: still growing, likely to become medium-sizedIm Shelter since: May 2026Family: siblings Shira, Chestnut, Leilani, Anela & PaoloHello… does it sound conceited when I say here comes the most extraordinary little puppy in the entire shelter? Let me introduce myself.I am Sam. The one with the green eyes, the pink spotted nose, the dark brown fur with white and beige markings. Oh yeah… and my ears. One stands neatly up, the other simply folds comfortably to the side. I haven't been able to decide which I like better so far.The people often chuckle affectionately at my funny face. But I believe it's precisely for that reason that people stick around with me.Trunderwise, my life began sadly. My siblings and I were found alone. No home. No mom. Just a field and a lot of fear. I didn't know where my journey was going back then. Honestly, I still don't know that today.Im Shelter I often observe everything very closely. I am curious but also cautious. The world can seem big and loud. But when a person speaks to me kindly, I want to come closer right away. I so much wish to finally belong somewhere.Very well, I might not be searching for a perfect home. I might simply be looking for people who look at me and say, "Exactly you, we've been looking for you."And then I would stay forever.Who would like to enrich my life and take me in? Interested? If you are interested in Sam, please fill out our Prospective Owner Form () or write us an email or a message on Facebook. Sam is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. As Traces, one refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel neutered (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months of age, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Lyme disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariasis, and leishmaniasis. Karin J. has taken on the sponsorship for Sam and thus ensures a full plate. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Sam J

What life with Sam J looks like

Sam J is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sam J, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sam J?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sam J on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sam J if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sam J already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sam J isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sam J and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
