Sam (Scheuchen)

Male · Young · 3 years

Sam (Scheuchen) is looking for a home on a suitable farm. Sam was born around 2023 and is a neutered European Shorthair tomcat. He is a very shy cat who has so far had little close contact with people. Accordingly, he approaches his surroundings very cautiously and needs time to build trust. For Sam, we are looking for a suitable farm placement with people who understand his reserved nature and can offer him the patience he needs. It is especially important that there is a way to keep Sam safely housed during the first period, so he can gradually get used to his new surroundings and gain a sense of security step by step. Afterwards, reliable care must of course also be guaranteed. Sam probably won't turn into a cuddly cat overnight. Nevertheless, even shy cats can learn to trust people and become a bit more sociable over time, with plenty of calm, patience, and understanding handling. Sam should be allowed to decide for himself how much closeness he wants to allow. We are therefore looking for people who place no expectations on him, but give him the chance to settle in at his own pace. Sam does not need a place where he has to become a lap cat. Above all, he needs a safe, permanent home, reliable people, and the freedom to simply be who he is.

About Sam (Scheuchen)

What life with Sam (Scheuchen) looks like

Sam (Scheuchen) is a young adult cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Goslar in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sam (Scheuchen), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sam (Scheuchen)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Goslar handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sam (Scheuchen) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sam (Scheuchen) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Goslar will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sam (Scheuchen) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sam (Scheuchen) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Goslar early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sam (Scheuchen) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
