adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! This little fellow has something very special: an open, curious look that is simultaneously cautious and trusting. Sambo observes a lot, takes in his surroundings attentively, and then approaches step by step. He was found together with his mother and his six siblings on an open field. No protected place, no safe beginning, and yet Sambo remains a friendly, affectionate puppy. He shows a people-oriented demeanor, allows himself to be handled well, and enjoys the closeness without being intrusive. One can quickly see that he wants to belong and orient himself. With other dogs, Sambo is compatible and is currently growing up with his siblings. He also knows cats and shows himself to be unproblematic in handling. Sambo is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog. Visually, a part of a herding dog could be in him. If that turns out to be true, he might bring with him a certain independence and closely observe his environment. Such dogs need a calm, clear guidance and people who give him security. A more rural or quieter home is therefore desirable, without hustle and bustle. A securely fenced property is also important here. Sambo has not yet lived in a home. Everyday noises, fixed routines, leash handling, and house training must be learned by him. Also, puberty will still play a role. With patience, structure, and loving guidance, he can develop and find his own path. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be helpful. Sambo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and brings his EU pet passport with him. As he is still too young, he is currently not neutered. Who will give Sambo this chance? Many thanks to his namesake Anja D. You gave Sambo his name. As of: 30.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Sambo

What life with Sambo looks like

Sambo is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
