adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Sami has found a home! His story: Sami is a very special young male dog, very talkative and communicative. With him, you can actually "talk" about anything 😊 He has a lovely nature and the look in his dark brown eyes radiates warmth and friendliness, a true charmer. Since September, Sami has lived in Germany and has already settled in very well there. He immediately built trust with his foster parent and is very clingy and cuddly, allowing himself to be touched, stroked, and petted everywhere, he loves ear scratches. Sami is very sensitive and finely tuned, reacting immediately to body language. He is also friendly, open, and very social with the other two female dogs in the household. He loves to play with them, roll in the grass, and stretch his nose up to sniff. But he also has great fun being mentally challenged from the head. In the garden, he likes to lie on the grass, sometimes in the sun, sometimes in the shade, he doesn't dig and reacts to birds and squirrels with calmness and composure. On the leash, Sami walks very calmly and attentively, showing no pronounced prey drive so far. He looks forward to walks, varied playtimes, and lots of cuddles. At the same time, he is home office-friendly, after the morning walk, he lies long and relaxed on his dog pillow and comes to rest well. Sami can also be left alone for an hour. Despite his large appetite, he is content when it comes to dog food. As soon as sausages or cooked food are on the menu, that's his highlight and the food is already defended. The shared toys are shared willingly. Sami approaches strangers with openness but initially cautiously, carefully checking whether they mean him well, he is also bribable. Once he has someone in his heart, he doesn't forget them. When faced with quick and hectic movements, he reacts a bit uncertainly. Originally, Sami came from Romania, Cluj, where he spent the last year living on a farm with a woman. She found him half-starved and took him in thankfully. For the sensitive Sami, we are looking for loving people who are willing to take this wonderful soul not only into their lives but also into their hearts and share many beautiful moments with him, wanting to mentally challenge him. An ideal home would be a quiet, rural one, Sami loves nature. Post-adoption, he is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and has an EU pet passport. Has Sami already snuck into your heart? He looks forward to meeting you. Many thanks, Susann G., for giving him his beautiful name and thus his own identity. Status: 23.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 23.01.2026

About Sami

What life with Sami looks like

Sami is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sami, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sami?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sami on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sami if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sami already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sami isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sami and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
