Adopt samiec

Mixed Breed · Male

Rio is one of those dogs that act like a mood booster in a furry version. Although he's not big, he has so much positive energy that he could charge phones during walks! A walk with Rio is an adventure. Nose to the ground, eyes everywhere, and every patch of grass looks like something super important to check out. Rio loves long and far walks, because after all, the world won't discover itself on its own. And when you're outside, you know what's coming: sticks, running, pulling, and actions like "hey, over there, because it's also fun!" But don't worry – Rio isn't just a dog in sport mode. Once he's been let out, he'll take care of his doggy business, can lie down and rest... as long as he's close to a person, because contact with the caregiver is his biggest reward. Rio is clever and reads people well. He quickly understands rules, and loyalty is standard. He will feel best with adult people who like a calm life, but aren't against having a reason for a walk and a small adventure every day. A home without small children will be the safest and most comfortable choice for him. He is learning to be alone - he is making progress, but in a new home he will need further training and a calm approach. It's not a "problem," just a process (and Rio really gives his best!). Regarding other dogs – he is initially cautious, he needs to check out a companion. But often ends up with chasing and playing together. Rio is a dog who can enter a person's life and immediately add more laughter, movement, and a good atmosphere. If you want a dog who will be your companion for daily tasks and walking adventures - this is him! 📌Rio is currently staying in a foster home in Poznan.

Spacer z Rio to wyprawa badawcza. Jeśli chcesz psa, który będzie Twoim kompanem do codziennych rzeczy i spacerowych przygód – to on! 📌Rio przebywa w domu tymczasowym w Poznaniu.

About samiec

What life with samiec looks like

samiec is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Kejtersi in Poznań.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting samiec, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about samiec?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Kejtersi handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw samiec on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt samiec if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Kejtersi will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is samiec already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if samiec isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Kejtersi early rather than rehoming privately; they know samiec and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
