Samuel

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Samuel belongs to the dogs who have not been treated well by life so far but still retain their friendly nature. The approximately three-year-old male dog was rescued from a euthanasia shelter and thus got the chance for a new life. Now he is waiting for the people who will show him what security, safety, and real belonging feel like. Currently, Samuel lives in our private shelter in Zalau. There, he shows himself as a gentle and pleasant dog who seeks human proximity. At first, he meets new situations and unfamiliar people with some caution and insecurity. However, once given the time he needs, he builds trust and comes closer to receive cuddles. Then, his enjoyment of attention and affection becomes clear. With a shoulder height of about 53 cm and a weight of around 21 kg, Samuel belongs to the medium-sized dogs. His short, dense fur shines in warm sand and fox brown tones, giving him a particularly friendly and harmonious appearance. Subtle shades in various brown and beige tones make his fur lively and emphasize his natural beauty. His strong but balanced build gives him a sporty appearance without seeming heavy. Especially striking are his hazel to amber-colored eyes, which look attentively into the world and give his face a gentle, touching expression. Together with his half-pricked ears and distinctive head shape, he becomes a dog that one does not forget so easily. Samuel currently appears rather quiet and balanced. He accepts wearing a collar and already walks well on a leash, although he still needs some practice. Overall, he gives the impression of an agreeable companion who will do well in his new life with the right support. We imagine that after an adjustment period, he will develop into a loyal and reliable family dog who greatly values the proximity of his people. Samuel is compatible with other dogs and shows social and uncomplicated behavior in cohabitation. Despite his friendly nature, it should not be forgotten that for Samuel, everything in his new home will be new. He may not be familiar with many everyday sounds, routines, rules, and impressions, and may need to relearn them. Therefore, we wish for people who will meet him with patience, understanding, and empathy and give him the time to settle in at his own pace. Trust does not develop overnight but grows through shared experiences and a loving approach. Like every dog, Samuel also benefits from a clear, fair, and consistent education based on positive reinforcement. Attending a positively working dog training class can be a valuable support and simultaneously strengthen the bond between dog and human. Loving guidance, clear structures, and mutual trust will help him feel safe and understood. Mental stimulation also plays an important role in a balanced dog life. Besides shared walks, dogs enjoy opportunities to use their noses, solve small puzzles, or be active with their people. It is not about constant action but about a balanced mix of movement, mental stimulation, and sufficient quiet phases. For sensitive dogs like Samuel, shared activities are often a wonderful way to build trust and gain security. For Samuel, we wish for a loving and empathetic home where he is welcomed as a full-fledged family member. People who give him time to leave his past behind and start a happy new life step by step. Samuel has already been given his second chance – now he just needs the family where he can finally belong forever. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand; 07.10.2026

About Samuel

What life with Samuel looks like

Samuel is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Samuel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Samuel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Samuel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Samuel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Samuel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Samuel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Samuel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
