adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Sanja can stay forever in your foster home! 38304 Wolfenbüttel. Sanja can travel to her foster home in August! Her story: Baia Mare, Romania. Our sweet Sanja knows exactly how to look into the camera to catch someone's heart. Does her sweet fur and cute button eyes make your heart skip a beat? Sanja came to us at the shelter with her siblings. The members of the Rasselbande now wish for their own family where they will be showered with love so they can grow into confident dogs. Sanja is about 1 year old and will likely grow into a medium-sized dog. She loves playing all day with her siblings and falls asleep in her dog bed at night. She is a very sweet mouse who shows some initial shyness and reticence around people but can be easily handled and, for example, her collar can be put on. Given enough time to build trust, Sanja will surely become more outgoing and you can grow into a great human-dog team. Unfortunately, she has a shortened tail for unknown reasons and is therefore on the lookout for a home in Germany or Austria. She is not allowed to travel to Switzerland. The little lady hasn't had much experience yet and needs to be picked up and taught many things. She is neither house-trained nor can she already walk perfectly on a leash or be left alone. Soon she will also enter puberty. During this phase, boundaries are tested, and previously learned things are sometimes forgotten. It is important to persevere and support the little one with love and a lot of patience. We recommend attending a dog training class that works with positive reinforcement, where both the human and the dog learn together. Sanja can now be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and equipped with an EU pet passport to move into her new family. She will be ready for a positive match. Do you want to give this lovely girl your heart and a forever home? Thank you, Susi G.! Your sponsorship was the start of a new life!

About Sanja

What life with Sanja looks like

Sanja is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sanja, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sanja?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sanja on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sanja if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sanja already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sanja isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sanja and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
