Santa

Labrador Retriever · Female · Young · 1 year

Hello everyone! I'm Santa, a sweet little dog born in September 2025, weighing 13 kg and a medium-small breed. Unfortunately, my life didn't start off well: I spent my first 6 months on the streets until I was hit by a car. The accident broke one of my legs and I now have a metal plate fixed to my femur, which I'll have to keep for the rest of my life. But don't let my past fool you: I don't feel any pain and I walk normally, without limping. I run, play and live like a happy puppy! I'm a sweet dog, I love people and get along with other dogs. I'm calm and indifferent around cats. I'm comfortable in the car, I'm used to the carrier and I eat dry food calmly. My mom and brothers also had a terrible experience: we were attacked by bigger dogs in the village. Luckily, we were treated and put in safety, but I still live in a shelter in Albania. Now I dream of a family of my own, a soft couch and someone who loves me forever. My leg tells part of my story, but it doesn't stop me from living a happy life. I just want to have the chance to prove it to you! I'm currently in Albania, but for a good adoption I can reach Central-North Italy. I'm vaccinated, spayed and 4DX negative.

Dolce, tranquilla e socievole Persone, bambini, cani, gatti Ciao a tutti!

About Santa

What life with Santa looks like

Santa is a small young adult labrador retriever dog waiting at I Pelosetti di Silvana in Italy.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇮🇹Adopting from Italy

Italian canili require adopters to sign a stewardship contract (affido) and may retain the right to verify the animal's wellbeing post-adoption. Animals are chipped and sterilized before leaving (Legge 281/91). Public canili rifugio typically waive adoption fees.

Frequently asked

Adopting Santa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Santa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. I Pelosetti di Silvana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Santa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Santa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — I Pelosetti di Silvana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Santa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Santa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with I Pelosetti di Silvana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Santa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (IT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
