Sara

Labrador Retriever · Unknown · Senior · 11 years

Sara his been at BARK for too many years now. She is in the prime of her life and truly deserves to find a home of her very own. She has some quirks it’s true but she is a wonderful dog and everyone at BARK adores her; she is one of the first dogs we give to our volunteer walkers as she is so good for them. Sara is around 11 years old, spayed and chipped. She is defensive and barky with strangers in her kennel but out of her kennel she soon makes friends. With people she knows she is a loving dog and she absolutely loves going for walks with lots of different volunteers. Sara doesn’t react to other dogs out and about at a respectful distance but would like to be the only dog in the home. She is not used to cats. The ideal home for Sara would be adults only with people who love to go for nice long walks and don’t mind a dog who will need careful introductions off property to new people or a safe place to be in the house when visitors come. If you would like to meet Sara (or any of our dogs) please read through our adoption criteria in the link in the comments below where you will also find more pictures of Sara. Then private message us to discuss further. We are currently running on appointments only.

About Sara

What life with Sara looks like

Sara is a senior labrador retriever dog waiting at BARK (Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels) in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BARK (Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BARK (Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Sara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BARK (Babworth Animal Rescue Kennels) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
