Adopt SARA

Female · Young · 2 years

We found Saru on a cold November evening at a cemetery. Along with her brother and sisters, we took her to a pension. At that time, we couldn't take her mother Lepa because she ran away from us that evening out of fear and distrust of people. We vaccinated Saru at the pension. She grew up into a beautiful young girl and now is waiting for a real home 😊. If only they knew how good and cheerful the girl is. SARA told us in confidence that the volunteers taught her to sit when they tell her and that she always greets them when they come to see her because she knows they bring her at least one treat. SARA is a socialized dog, behaves well towards people and children and runs into your arms when you call her 😍. She loves being petted and enjoys the company of people. She doesn't like to be alone❤️. She really likes four-legged company and doesn't choose who to play with. On the photos you can see how sweet and cuddly she is, and if you would like to adopt her, write to Šapama.

Voli maženje i prija joj prisustvo ljudi. Ne voli da bude sama❤️. Jako voli i četvoronožno društvo, ne bira sa kim će se igrati. Na fotkama možete videti kako je slatka i mazna, a ukoliko poželite da je udomite pišite Šapama. 🐾

About SARA

What life with SARA looks like

SARA is a young adult dog waiting at Šape Smedereva in Smederevo.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇷🇸Adopting from Serbia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting SARA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SARA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Šape Smedereva handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SARA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SARA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Šape Smedereva will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SARA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SARA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Šape Smedereva early rather than rehoming privately; they know SARA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
