Sara

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 12 years

Wit's story today is one of transformation, with a cheerful and very friendly female dog who no longer shows the marks of her past life. It took her a long time to find peace in life. Sara once had a home but struggled greatly with the conditions provided. In the face of frustration and unmet needs, Sara began exhibiting obsessive-compulsive behaviors. She couldn't handle being left alone or the lack of walks, and started to hurt herself. Her owners didn't understand why this was happening and didn't know how to properly care for her. As a result of her actions, she lost her tail and then began injuring her legs. The foundation managed to take her out of that state, restore her calm, provide a daily routine, and to the extent possible among many other dogs, meet at least some of her needs. Sara has been ready for a long time to share her story with someone. She can cheer up, help with garden work, read a book on the terrace, and teach how to find moles and voles on green meadows. However, it's now the time when her legs struggle more with the rabbit's burrow, they tire more quickly as she walks through the fields, but her head is still full of ideas for spending time together. Sara is still young at heart and doesn't lack the will to live. She is about 12 years old and may have a few good moments left. She is looking for people who want to change the fate of an invisible female dog in the final days of her life. Sara prefers to be an only dog, but after meetings could accept the company of larger male dogs. She will not accept the company of cats. She is not aggressive towards people, but kind and open to new friendships. Despite her experiences, she is confident and determined. Today, she's essentially a bold older lady. For 10 years, Sara has had a home at the hotel.

Pomimo doświadczeń to pewna siebie i przebojowa suczka. Dziś w zasadzie to już nawet dziarska starsza pani. Od 10 lat dla Sary domem jest hotel.

About Sara

What life with Sara looks like

Sara is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana in Warszawa.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
