SARAH *Pflegestelle*

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

SARAH *Pflegestelle* is a female Sarplaninac dog born on May 21, 2016. She is 65 cm at the shoulder and weighs 37 kg. SARAH *Pflegestelle* is dog-friendly but not cat-friendly, and child-friendly but not for beginners. She is not a second dog. She can stay alone but prefers company. Sarah is a beautiful and affectionate companion dog who longs for a home where she can be part of the family. With her calm nature and gentle demeanor, she brings a soothing presence to any home. As a herding dog, Sarah has a natural watchfulness and protects her territory. Therefore, an enclosed yard would be ideal for her, as Sarah takes her guardian role very seriously and will defend her property against other dogs with her barking. However, Sarah has some health limitations that should be considered. She suffers from HD (hip dysplasia), spondylosis, and arthritis, which require her to take daily pain medication. For Sarah, an ground-floor home would be perfect to provide her with a comfortable life without unnecessary stress. Despite her health challenges, Sarah enjoys being close to her people, loves cuddles, and can also be left alone for a while if she knows her territory is safe. She is looking for a family that appreciates her unique qualities and needs and offers her a loving, adapted home. If you can provide a safe, ground-floor home for a loyal and attentive dog, Sarah would be the perfect choice. Contact us to meet this special female dog! Mai 2016. About SARAH *Pflegestelle*

What life with SARAH *Pflegestelle* looks like

SARAH *Pflegestelle* is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Peine in Peine.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting SARAH *Pflegestelle*, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SARAH *Pflegestelle*?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Peine handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SARAH *Pflegestelle* on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SARAH *Pflegestelle* if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Peine will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SARAH *Pflegestelle* already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SARAH *Pflegestelle* isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Peine early rather than rehoming privately; they know SARAH *Pflegestelle* and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
