Adopt Sascha

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

I can't imagine how it feels to look into a dog's eyes like Sascha, so timid and sad. So young, yet ready to give up. You feel compassion, you are drawn to him, you want to comfort and stroke him. You want to reassure him, to say that he has nothing to be afraid of. You want to take him in your arms and hold him tight. Sascha needs our compassion, not pity. He needs our empathy, our patience, and measured affection. Who would blame the puppy Sascha, who arrived here in late August 2025, already as a puppy? He was given a kennel from which he never emerged. Not a ray of sunlight penetrates. Not even that. But we want to give Sascha a chance, to make him visible here, and it would be a laughing matter if we didn't succeed. After all, he is a handsome young puppy with gentle dark round eyes and all the makings of a loyal family dog, who just wants to go through thick and thin with you. Sascha will lose his fears with our help. I believe in that. And I speak from personal experience. It is so indescribably beautiful when such a gentle and initially reserved being reaches out for the first time for an extended hand, licks the liver sausage tube (insider tip) for the first time, and snuggles his head against his person. This infinite trust, this unconditional love are the reward for all our patience and effort. How do we envision Sascha's new home? We believe this dog's heart can be happy anywhere where sensitive and reassuring people live. Perhaps a family with older, already understanding children, or a single person or a couple would be wonderful. A confident, only-dog-friendly companion would be helpful, because Sascha gets along well with dogs of both sexes. Have you fallen a little in love with Sascha? I wouldn't blame you. Then please call his case worker during the day. Or write an email. Our case workers will advise you kindly and competently. Good luck, dear Sascha. We wish you a brave heart. - All rights reserved

About Sascha

What life with Sascha looks like

Sascha is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sascha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sascha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sascha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sascha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sascha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sascha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sascha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
