Sashi

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Sashi, a young Romanian male, is a lovable little guy. He is sweet, friendly, cheerful, and nice to people. When someone comes to visit him, he runs around like a young rabbit - he just can't contain his excitement. But he is a dog, after all, and he has to prove that to everyone. That's why he can bark really well - especially when someone just walks past his kennel. Impudent, right? But you could also just stop and get to know him! 😊 By the way, I thought "children and the elderly first" meant something different... for me, it seems to mean "everyone who comes by, please come to me first!" 😄 And I'm smart too! I know exactly what people expect from me. When they put on my harness, I'm almost completely still - you learn something new every day. Then I go out for a walk. Well, at first, they actually carried me, even though I have four paws. Strange... or? But now I go out on my own. I even pass by the other kennels, no problem. In the outdoors, I play a lot, it's a real party. You won't believe how fast I can run. But when they call me and I come right away, they always say "Great!" and give me a treat. I could really get used to that. It's a great invention! And now comes the best part: I'm even allowed to go out into the big wide world. Well, okay... first to the street at the animal shelter. But hey, everyone starts small. And I'm doing really well. Cars and bicycles - no problem. And those smells. Sniff, sniff, sniff and I already mentioned that I love sniffing, hihi. Oh yeah, the people here told me that if I keep doing everything so well, I'll get my own family, all to myself. That sounds like a good plan. One thing I have to admit, though. I was in the kennel with Pluto before. I tried to show off my upbringing. It didn't go down well. My upbringing methods were a bit rough. Maybe it's better if there's no other dog in the new home, or if there is, it should be a really relaxed and confident representative of its kind. But who is a good fit for me and what the best situation for me is, you should discuss with the animal shelter management. They know me pretty well by now. 😊 Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. We ask you to contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by email if you are interested in one of our animals.

Beim Geschirr anziehen halte ich schon fast ganz still - man lernt ja schließlich immer was dazu.

About Sashi

What life with Sashi looks like

Sashi is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sashi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sashi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sashi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sashi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sashi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sashi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sashi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
