Saskia

English Bulldog · Female · Puppy · 8 months

Saskia loves her food and her toys, which will be great for any ongoing training! She loves to play with squeaky and soft toys, and will want you to get involved. She has been left for 4-6 hours with a break and been fine in the past, but would need this building up in her new home. She is crate trained, so could continue this in the new home, but loves snoozing on anything soft and cushioned. Saskia will need owners that are willing to put work into her dog social, as she is worried and under-socialised. She can be vocal, but we can give guidance on how to help. She is a wonderful girl and full of love! Saskia currently has an eye ulcer, so she cannot be adopted until it is healed. However, she can still have meets here in the centre in the meantime! Meet pretty girl, Saskia! Saskia is an 8-month old French Bulldog looking for her forever home. Saskia cannot live with another dog, and does need some work on her social skills as she can be vocal when seeing other dogs out and about. Any children in the home should be primary school aged and over as she's a super sweet, affectionate girl and loves her people! She loves to play, and shows typical puppy behaviours such as jumping up and play-mouthing so any adopters should be understanding of how to manage this. She travels well in the car, and loves getting out and about for her sniffy walks! She walks well on the lead, and after a walk, will enjoy having a snuggle on the sofa with her family. Saskia wants to be friends with everyone, and will jump up for a cuddle. She can get overexcited when children are running around, so will need sensible children in the home that can be calm around her.

About Saskia

What life with Saskia looks like

Saskia is a puppy/kitten english bulldog dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saskia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saskia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saskia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saskia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saskia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saskia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saskia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
