Saskia

Female · Senior · 9 years

Saskia is a female dog, who is experiencing a second youth. She came to us from a kennel run, and is essentially learning life all over again. Every day she makes progress and surprises us with her courage and willingness to act. She spent her entire life without walks, so she's just learning what it means to walk on a leash. The beginning was difficult, she constantly pulled forward, as if she wanted to escape from the overload of stimuli. Today, we can already see a huge change. She increasingly looks at the handler, seeks support and guidance. She can stop, take a breath, and even use a break for affection with volunteers. These short moments of closeness are very important for her and show how much she needs a relationship with a person. Still, new things are big challenges for her, she is gradually learning, for example, how to get into a car. She reacts differently to other dogs, some she barks at from a distance, while to others she approaches interestedly. Saskia very much needs a dedicated, patient caregiver who will provide her with a calm life that she so deserves. She doesn't ask for much, just support and security. Then she will be able to fully spread her wings and show what lies behind this unfortunate one. Saska and the rest of the animals in group 6 you will also meet at:

Saskia to suczka, która przeżywa drugą młodość. Trafiła do nas z kojca, i właściwie od nowa uczy się życia. Każdego dnia robi postępy i zaskakuje nas swoją odwagą i chęcią do działania. About Saskia

What life with Saskia looks like

Saskia is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient owner for socialization and leash training

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Saskia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Saskia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Saskia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Saskia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Saskia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Saskia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Saskia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
