Sassy

Jack Russell Terrier · Female · Young · 1 year

Sassy is a timid girl initially, although once she trusts you she will happily be your best friend! She is snuggly with known people and enjoys a game of tug or a cuddle in a lap. An understanding home would suit Sassy well, one that is willing to help her blossom into a confident dog! Sassy is a 1.5-year-old Terrier Crossbreed looking for a home with adopters who are happy to continue her socialisation and confidence building. She is looking for a quiet, adult-only home where she can build relationships at her own pace, she can take a little while to warm up to new people so any potential adopters would need to be willing to come and meet Sassy a few times ahead of taking her home. Sassy is looking for a home where she will be the only pet, although she could have some calm walking friends out and about. She would benefit from quiet walking areas initially, as she can be unsure around strangers and other dogs. Although Sassy has lived quite a sheltered life so far, she has so much potential and has already made so much progress so any adopters would need to be happy to continue this in the home.

About Sassy

What life with Sassy looks like

Sassy is a young adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Salisbury in Newton Tony.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sassy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sassy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Salisbury handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sassy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sassy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Salisbury will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sassy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sassy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Salisbury early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sassy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
