Adopt Bailey

Jack Russell Terrier · Male · Adult · 4 years

NORTH YORKSHIRE Adoption fee is £300 4 years old Male, miniature dachshund, ¼ Jack Russell mix Black and tan, smooth coat Neutered Bailey is an affectionate boy who loves human attention and cuddles. He is looking for a new home because his owner has caring responsibilities and feels he is not getting the time and attention he deserves. He currently lives with his brother, however, in consultation with our behaviourist, we feel he will be happier and more settled if he lives either on his own or with an older, friendly dog. Bailey likes to be included in absolutely everything! He is a complete cuddle-bug who loves being close to his special person, although this is lovely, at the same time his new family will need to help him to not be over-dependent on just one person. Bailey loves to play and in particular enjoys playing fetch with his ball. He is an adorable, mischievous boy who will be an amazing pet for his next family, as long as they have the patience and understanding to help him settle in properly. He enjoys his walks, although sometimes he can be barky towards dogs he does not know. At the moment, Bailey sleeps downstairs with his brother in a crate. He is in excellent health, travels well and is house-trained. Once settled, he can be left for up to four hours. Bailey will thrive in a home that has the time to train him and offer him the stability, reassurance and love he needs as a young dog. Requirements in a home for Bailey: Someone who is around most of the time Can live with sensible children aged 10+ Possibly a calm, older dog – subject to a successful meet No cats If would like to find out more about Bailey, please email

About Bailey

What life with Bailey looks like

Bailey is a adult jack russell terrier dog waiting at The Red Foundation in Pentlow Street.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bailey, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bailey?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Red Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bailey on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bailey if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Red Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bailey already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bailey isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Red Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bailey and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
