Adopt Savannah

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 9 years

Age: Born in 2024. Gender: female. Spayed: yes Character: friendly, somewhat reserved Size: approx. 45 cm In shelter since: December 2024 Family: siblings Rune, Jeremie, Milow, Stiles, Merkur & Phaen This pretty mouse with hazel eyes is our Savannah. Savannah likely spent her previous life on the streets, completely on her own and always on the lookout for water and food. But she had some luck and was brought to our shelter with her siblings. Savannah is a bit shy at first contact, but within a few moments she warms up and seeks out contact with the people she knows. We hope she won't stay in our shelter for long. We wish her a different and better life where she can enjoy it without worrying every day. She wants to trust her people, give them her little mouse heart, and finally have a home filled with love and security. Long walks and lots of cuddles await her in her new life. Even though the journey to this new life is long and tiring, it is worth it, because at the end, her people are waiting to welcome her. Which loving person would like to take Savannah by the paw and show her how beautiful life can be? Interested? If you are interested in Savannah, please fill out our application form () or send us an email or a message on Facebook. Savannah is ready to travel and can travel to Germany with the next transport. Our dogs travel legally with Traces. Traces refers to the database system that monitors the entire animal transport within the EU. The dogs travel spayed (if old enough), vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed, and have an EU passport. Additionally, for dogs over 12 months old, a rapid test for the following Mediterranean diseases is conducted before travel arrangements: Borreliosis, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis, Dirofilariosis, and leishmaniasis. The sponsorship for Savannah has been taken over by Christelle B., and thus ensures a full food bowl. Many thanks on behalf of the dogs!

About Savannah

What life with Savannah looks like

Savannah is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Seelen für Seelchen e.V. in Alfter.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Savannah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Savannah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Seelen für Seelchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Savannah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Savannah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Seelen für Seelchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Savannah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Savannah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Seelen für Seelchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Savannah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
