Schnurrlock Holmes

Male · Young · 2 years

March 2026: Unfortunately, Snarly now occasionally shows his wild side and attacks, even if we don't provoke him. We don't know if he might have had bad experiences. He's not fearful, but he can suddenly change. Of course, young Snarly isn't overstimulated in the shelter environment – but we can't rule out that he might also exhibit this behavior with lots of attention, distraction, and movement in his new home. Nonetheless, Snarly is a special tomcat with great potential that he would love to show with very cat-savvy openers. We often observe that very temperamental cats like Schnurrlock Holmes become calmer and easier to assess over time – but they remain unsuitable for cat beginners or fans of quiet indoor cats. January 2026: Schnurrlock Holmes is an alert, young tomcat who knows exactly what he wants. One might almost think that he's not just a handsome fellow – but he knows it too. Snarly was found in Bonn and was neither neutered nor microchipped. He's now caught up on both and is looking for his perfect openers. He's very present and doesn't retreat. Snarly prefers to lie outstretched on his back, like Sleeping Beauty. Generally, he's composed and doesn't get flustered – as long as he's in charge of where things are going. Unfortunately, Snarly can't be denied much of his temperament – so he's not a good fit for a family with children. Snarly wants to decide what happens to him, and that should be respected – but at the same time, he shouldn't be allowed to walk all over you. For example, regular grooming is essential for the long-haired Snarly, even though he sees it differently. So, a lot of caution and finesse are required here. A brief visit to the cat café showed that Snarly would rather live as a solo prince. He showed no fear of fellow animals but unfortunately attacked them. To satisfy his curiosity and to be able to do 'his own thing,' we're placing Snarly as a future outdoor cat. Through his sovereign nature, he can likely hold his own outdoors, then relax on the couch at home.

About Schnurrlock Holmes

What life with Schnurrlock Holmes looks like

Schnurrlock Holmes is a young adult cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnurrlock Holmes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnurrlock Holmes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnurrlock Holmes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnurrlock Holmes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnurrlock Holmes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnurrlock Holmes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnurrlock Holmes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
