Schnute

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Schnute could be rehomed on May 5, 2015, from Geithain. Good luck, little man! ———————————————————————————————————— My name is Schnute. I am male, neutered, and was born in 2014. I have been waiting since December 2014 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Schnute came from a semi-wild stock in the Mulden Valley, together with his siblings and his mother. Some of them have already been rehomed, or they are still waiting for their chance with us. Although Schnute was initially shy, he quickly gained confidence, is now cuddly, and enjoys cuddles. In quiet situations, he also approaches people. He is modest and content, grateful for every bit of attention. We would like to place Schnute as a second cat, and he gets along well with fellow animals. Due to his reserved nature, in our view, a purely apartment-living situation is no problem, but he would also enjoy a walk after appropriate acclimatization. Also, a family with children would be no problem for him, if understanding and patience for the necessary warming-up phase are given. Who would like to offer Schnute a safe life and ensure a gentle life for the soft tomcat? Schnute is looking forward to meeting you…. eMail:. This cat is to be kept indoors only.

Schnute konnte am 05.05.2015 nach Geithain vermittelt werden. Alles Gute, kleiner Mann!

About Schnute

What life with Schnute looks like

Schnute is a small senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schnute, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schnute?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schnute on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schnute if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schnute already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schnute isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schnute and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
