adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Schoko has found a home! His story: Busag, Romania. Chocolate lovers, pay attention, here comes the sweetest chocolate truffle you've ever seen, our Schoko! The recipe for this sweet little guy is a portion of fluff, a dash of sunshine, two cups of cuteness, and a huge portion of love. The result – a magical puppy who is always cheerful, loving, and puppyishly playful. Schoko is also open-minded and loves to snuggle. But not only with us humans is the little guy charming, he also gets along well with his fellow animals. He is the brother of Mascha, Fee, and Karlson. Currently, he is about 4 months old and will likely grow into a medium-sized handsome male dog when he matures. Soon, puberty will be upon Schoko. During this hormone chaos, he will test his owners' limits and push their boundaries. He is looking for someone who can stand by him during this time and provide the necessary understanding and support so that he can grow into a great dog. Positive training and loving consequences will help navigate this time well and emerge as a strong team. For Schoko would never deliberately annoy you. He often can't control his behavior during this tumultuous time and hopes that you will always stand behind him during this difficult time. Living children in the household should already be old enough to understand the new companion and not misinterpret him. Surely it would be time now to make new friends in dog training classes and finally "learn something" – maybe with you? He is eager to learn the dog ABC and form new friendships. Schoko will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas in his new home. Of course, he will bring his EU pet passport with him. Against an adoption fee of 500 Euros and only after a positive placement on a foster home, he would also be very happy. Many thanks Elke A.! You gave Schoko his sweet name. Status: 15.04.

Vielen Dank Elke A.! Du hast Schoko seinen süßen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 15.04.2024

About Schoko

What life with Schoko looks like

Schoko is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schoko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schoko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schoko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schoko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schoko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schoko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schoko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
