adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Schulzi has found his home! His story: Schulzi is a friendly, older male dog whom we have promised to do everything we can to ensure he spends his last years in a quiet and loving environment. Therefore, we are urgently seeking patient and understanding people who will meet him with respect and give him the time he needs to settle in and recover. We know nothing about Schulzi's past, where he came from, or how he lived before. Perhaps he spent his entire life on the streets. Perhaps he had a home before and was abandoned or abandoned somewhere. However, we assume that Schulzi must learn the rules of house life anew. Schulzi was rescued by our staff from a river. Almost drowned, but he had good luck and was saved, brought to Paul's Shelter. Schulzi recovered slowly, as his overall condition was very poor. With a lot of engagement and love, he was fattened up and now makes a much better and more active impression. All the bad experiences could not break Schulzi. He has maintained his trusting and friendly nature and approaches other dogs and people with openness. And one can see that Schulzi wants his own people who will give him love, care, and peace. People who, despite his advanced age, not only pamper him but also offer him mental stimulation and appropriate physical activity. We estimate Schulzi to be around 9 to 10 years old. He is about 55 cm tall and weighs around 20 kg. With that, he counts as a medium-sized, relatively quiet dog for his age. Schulzi is still beautiful with his cuddly black fur and a friendly smile. We are sure that with a lot of love and patience, with shared activities and much contact with fellow animals, Schulzi will make the most of his second chance and develop into a happy and grateful companion. Schulzi can travel to his new home immediately with an EU pet passport, microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, dewormed, and treated for fleas. You are the person who wants to fulfill Schulzi's wish? Of course, we would love a permanent home for the lovable senior, but we would also be very happy with a loving foster home for him. Many thanks to dear Rike, who gave the old Schulzi his name and thus a new identity. A big thank you also goes to Thorsten S., who has taken on a monthly sponsorship for Schulzi. Status: 08.08.

Stand: 08.08.2024

About Schulzi

What life with Schulzi looks like

Schulzi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Schulzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Schulzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Schulzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Schulzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Schulzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Schulzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Schulzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
