Other: Diabetic since May 2026, Scooter came from very poor husbandry and was seized by the veterinary office as he was in a catastrophic condition. Scooter's fur was so matted across his entire body that it had become a real armor, making it barely possible to walk. Additionally, his claws on eight toes had grown so long that they had grown into his paw pads, causing him immense pain. Even after trimming the claws, his paws are still sore. During a blood test, it was unfortunately discovered that Scooter has a problem with the pancreas and suffers from diabetes. We are currently waiting for the complete result of the urine test, as diabetes can also cause a bladder infection, and he still needs to be treated with antibiotics. After that, the treatment of his diabetes with appropriate insulin must begin. In the animal shelter, a correct diabetes treatment and a good adjustment with the initial blood sugar measurements every 2-2 to 4 hours are barely possible, so we are soon looking for an appropriate care place or end place with cat-experienced people who ideally already have experience with the treatment of diabetic cats for Scooter. Langhaar-Mix * ca. 2012 – schwarz-weiß – männlich – kastriert Wohnungshaltung mit gesichertem Balkon Verträglichkeit mit Artgenossen noch unbekannt Sonstiges: Diabetiker, chronische Pankreatitis im Tierheim seit: 05/2026 Scooter kommt aus sehr schlechter Haltung und er wurde vom Veterinäramt beschlagnahmt, da er sich in einem katastrophalen Zustand befand. Scooter's Fell war am kompletten Körper so stark verfilzt, dass das Fell bereits zu einem richtigen Panzer wurde und laufen kaum noch möglich war. Zudem waren seine Krallen an 8 Zehen bereits so lang, dass sie in die Ballen eingewachsen waren. Dies muss dem armen Kerl höllische Schmerzen bereitet haben und auch nach dem Kürzen der Krallen sind seine Pfoten noch immer entzündet. Bei einer Blutuntersuchung wurde leider festgestellt, dass Scooter Probleme mit der Bauchspeicheldrüse hat und an Diabetes leidet. Aktuell warten wir noch auf das komplette Ergebnis der Urinuntersuchung, da diabetesbedingt auch eine Blasenentzündung vorliegt und er noch mit einem Antibiotikum behandelt werden muss. Danach muss dann die Einstellung seiner Diabetes mit einem geeigneten Insulin begonnen werden. Im Tierheim ist eine korrekte Diabetesbehandlung und eine gute Einstellung mit den anfänglich alle 2-4 Stunden nötigen Blutzuckermessungen kaum möglich, so dass wir in Kürze nach einem geeigneten Pflegeplatz oder Endplatz bei katzenerfahrenen Menschen, die idealerweise bereits Erfahrung mit der Einstellung von Diabeteskatzen haben, für Scooter suchen.
