Scotty-3

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Scotty, a charming Scotty Terrier, became a minor celebrity in Kecskemét, Hungary. He wandered the city for a week, appearing here and there. People took photos and posted them on various Facebook groups, but the clever little dog couldn't be caught. However, on June 30, 2026, his escape ended, unfortunately with a sad result: Scotty was hit by a car, injured and no longer agile. He suffered a fracture of the left ilium and a fracture of the right sacrum, all very complicated. Scotty has already been successfully operated on at our trusted clinic in Budapest, and his recovery is progressing well. Scotty is already looking for his humans, who would like to give him a loving home, a safe haven where he can find peace and tranquility. We can't change his past, but his future is very important to us, and we wish him a paradise on earth. Scotty was not so cooperative and friendly at first. Understandably, he was in escape mode, scared, suspicious, and probably also driven away, and then the pain added to it. We can't imagine what he had to go through alone. But he is willing to embark on the "adventure of a new life." He has now understood that nobody wants to harm him. It was all a bit too much. Animal shelter employee Anna took care of him. He is slowly warming up and it's nice to see that he is still willing to trust humans and give his heart away if you give him time, step by step towards a new life. He enjoys it more and more when he gets pets and attention and affection, which he didn't know from his past. The first few minutes he is still a bit shy, but he gains trust when he realizes that you mean well. The leash still scares him a bit, but practice makes perfect. With his new family, he will also have to go to school at some point. Currently, his healing/rehabilitation is the top priority. He gets along well with his fellow dogs, but is currently alone in the hospital ward in a box. (As of August 24, 2026) We are urgently looking for loving and patient people for our dearest Scotty, who will let him arrive without time pressure. A quiet home where he can determine his own pace, where no expectations are placed on him and he knows two-legged people by his side who love and protect him from the heart. Give him all the love, security, care, and protection he has probably never experienced before. Beautiful and varied walks, lots of cuddling, a soft, warm and safe sleeping place, dog-friendly exercise and his own people who will walk his further life path with him and who he can be a loyal companion to, that's what Scotty wants from the heart. Who can our brave Scotty rely on 100%? Scotty is not yet neutered, as his fractures had to be surgically treated first. However, this will be done soon. (As of August 24, 2026) Scotty can travel from around the beginning of September 2026 if he has found a home or a foster home.

About Scotty-3

What life with Scotty-3 looks like

Scotty-3 is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Scotty-3, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Scotty-3?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Scotty-3 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Scotty-3 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Scotty-3 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Scotty-3 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Scotty-3 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
