About Scrappy DooScrappy came to the centre as an unclaimed stray via the local stray dog service, due to this we sadly know nothing of his past. Scrappy is a very sweet natured boy but unfortunately carries with him a lot of anxieties and insecurities of the outside world. He has either been through some kind of trauma or just has not experienced much of life so finds new things, places and situations quite overwhelming. Scrappy's way of coping with unfamiliar and situations he finds overwhelming is to be quite vocal. He looks to his humans for reassurance and needs a steady, predictable routine to help him feel safe. Once Scrappy knows he is safe, his true personality begins to shine. He is incredibly affectionate with people he trusts and enjoys soft head scratches and leaning against your legs. Scrappy is working with our behaviourist to help with his insecurities and he is doing really well, any adopters will need to carry on with his training to help him adjust and enjoy all that being part of a loving family can offer. Adopters will be able to have a one to one session with our behaviourist to help with his transition in to a new home. Scrappy is extremely affectionate and loving with his people, all he wants is to snuggle up on your knee for cuddles. Scrappy will need someone who at home most of the time who will just give him the the time, patience and understanding he needs. In return you will be get a fiercely loyal, extremely loving dog who will give you his whole heart. Scrappy will be best suited to being the only pet and could live with secondary school age children.
