Sczypiorek

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Szczypior is not a dog that will approach you immediately wagging his tail. He's a small dog who ended up at our shelter after wandering alone on Adwokacka Street in Gdynia. No one was looking for him, no one reported missing, and to this day he doesn't really know if people can be trusted. We don't know what he has experienced or how he was treated before, Szczypior is very fearful and withdrawn. New people, new places, new situations, everything stresses him out. He needs time, a lot of time. We are not looking for a home that expects quick results, but people who understand that trust cannot be rushed. In the company of dogs he feels more confident, although not every dog is his best friend. Despite this, the presence of a stable, calm dog in the house could be a big support for him, although it's not a condition for adoption. We are looking for a quiet place for Szczypior, preferably away from city noise. He needs predictability, routine and a sense of security. A person who will not demand anything from him right now, but let him be himself and slowly get used to the world. This is not a dog that will open up quickly to his new caregiver, but we are sure there is someone out there who will look at him and say: "I'll wait as long as it takes." Maybe you? SZCZYPIOR is in the Ciapkowo Animal Shelter in Gdynia run by OTOZ Animals. *Descriptions refer to behaviors observed in the shelter and may not reflect the dog's behavior in a home environment. Nowe osoby, nowe miejsca, nowe sytuacje, wszystko to go stresuje. Potrzebuje czasu, sporo czasu. Potrzebuje przewidywalności, rutyny i poczucia bezpieczeństwa. About Sczypiorek

What life with Sczypiorek looks like

Sczypiorek is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Sczypiorek, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Sczypiorek?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Sczypiorek on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Sczypiorek if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Sczypiorek already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Sczypiorek isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Sczypiorek and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
