adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Seal can travel directly to his final home! His story: Klausenburg, Romania. How much is a dog's life worth? This question is hard to answer. One might think it's priceless. For Seal, the question is how much a dog's life is worth in Romania. Seal was bought from a Sinti and Roma girl by Cori Luc at a gas station in Dej. She held the small Seal in her arms and offered 20 Lei for him, eventually selling him to Cori for 10 Lei. 10 Lei is roughly 2 Euros. A loaf of bread costs about 5-6 Lei. So, Seal is worth about one to two loaves of bread. We don't want to judge the girl, maybe the need drove her to do so, or maybe she was forced. It also shows that the value of dogs in Romania isn't particularly high. Whether Seal has siblings or a mother, Cori Luc couldn't find out. Taken from the mother too early, but it was certain that only the small Seal could be saved. He now lives in a Romanian foster home, growing and developing well. There, he waits to be old enough to travel to his own family. Seal is likely to grow into a medium-sized dog with an estimated weight of 20 kg. In the foster home, he lives with a dog and a cat and is already learning a lot, with something new every day. The name Seal isn't chosen by chance. Seal means "seal" in English. And that's how the small puppy looked when it was rescued. Seal is looking for people who won't have high expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog's life works. He's still a baby and has a lot to learn. Don't take it too badly when he makes the occasional mistake, and always guide him with a positive training style. He's looking forward to his new life with nature walks, cuddle sessions, and a visit to puppy school. In the first year of life, puppies shouldn't be left alone as much as possible. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of little rascals upside down. They often forget everything they've learned, and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it's especially important to consistently but lovingly train them during this phase. And there's also good news: This phase will pass! Once Seal is old enough and has all the necessary vaccinations, he will travel to his EU home with his microchip, deworming, and flea treatment in his travel documents. Many thanks to Lotti v. P.! You've given Seal a beautiful name through your name sponsorship and support him with a monthly paternity. This animal is microchipped.

Eigentlich unbezahlbar, würde man meinen.

About Seal

What life with Seal looks like

Seal is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Seal, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Seal?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Seal on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Seal if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Seal already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Seal isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Seal and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
