Selma

Female · Young · 1 year

Selma is a small mixed breed. She is female, spayed, and one year old. She is 30 cm tall and weighs 10 kg. She is white. She was taken from a Romanian animal shelter. She is compatible with dogs. Selma is a little timid, but you can see she wants to be close to people. We watch her learn more and more things she didn't have in her old life at the Romanian shelter. If we put a stuffed animal down, she doesn't know what to think at first. But curiosity gets the better of her, and she comes closer, sniffs it, and realizes it's not a threat. Then she can play with it. (Photo below) Selma has moved from the Orscheider Tierschutzhof to a foster home, where she will learn quickly from being around people all the time. We are happy Selma is in Germany and getting her chance. We are looking for people with empathy and a friendly first dog for Selma. Children should be teenagers. 📧 Contact: Important: If Selma is your dream dog, please fill out our self-disclosure form and send it to the dog department. Thank you! We cannot process inquiries without a self-disclosure due to capacity constraints. We apologize for the inconvenience.

About Selma

What life with Selma looks like

Selma is a small young adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof in Germany.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Selma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Selma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Selma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Selma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Selma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Selma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein 7 Gebirge e.V. — Orscheider Hof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Selma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
