Seneka

Male · Senior · 15 years

Despite his age and numerous health issues, he shows every single day just how strong his will to live is. He’s been incredibly lucky and is now staying in a temporary home, where he’s surrounded by love, care, and attention. Although his physical condition isn’t what it once was, Seneca has started having fun again! As soon as his caregiver returns home, he immediately “tells her all about” what’s been going on—almost as if asking where she’s been and why she took so long. Whenever someone comes over for a visit, he promptly puts them through an inspection: sniffing them carefully and checking whether the new cushions are comfortable for him to sit on. He’s always eager to peek into bowls whenever someone’s eating—and finally, he has his own safe little haven where nothing is lacking. He struggles with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, pancreatic problems, chronic cystitis, and numerous degenerative conditions. Every day brings medications, specialized food, regular checkups, and frequent vet visits. It’s crucial to closely monitor his behavior and keep an eye on what’s happening in his litter box. Any deviation from Seneca’s “normal” routine could be dangerous for him. Despite all the discomforts, the less-than-delicious meals, and the challenges he faces daily—and thanks to ongoing treatment—he still enjoys life immensely: he purrs contentedly, rests in his favorite spot, and delights in human companionship.

PL·Show original

Każdy dzień to leki, specjalistyczna karma, regularne badania i wizyty u weterynarza.

About Seneka

What life with Seneka looks like

Seneka is a senior cat waiting at Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań in Poznań.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Seneka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Seneka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Seneka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Seneka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Seneka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Seneka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Dla Zwierząt Animalia Poznań early rather than rehoming privately; they know Seneka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
