Serona

Female · Young · 3 years

Native Country: Hungary The pretty Serona was reported on July 29, 2025, wandering alone in Kecskemét at the our shelter. A shelter worker went to retrieve her and, fortunately, she was easily captured and brought to safety. Many dangers await a stray dog outside. As expected, Serona was not microchipped, and no one missed this wonderful female dog. We are crossing our fingers that she will soon be traded from the our shelter for a permanent home, even though we know that it is very difficult for listehunde to find a suitable home. Serona is a nice, loving, well-mannered, and friendly female dog. She is still young, lively, and very affectionate, and she would love to find a new home in an active family. She wants to be mentally and physically challenged and her new people should still be affectionate and consistently teach her everything she needs to know about being a dog. She loves when she is engaged and enjoys human affection and cuddles very much. It will definitely be fun to work with Serona and teach her some tricks. Maybe Serona and her new family will also have fun with agility or something similar, as long as they have a great time together. Serona does not get along with her fellow animals and wishes for a competent home as a single princess. For our cheerful Serona, we are looking for enthusiastic and dog/breed-experienced people who can give Serona a loving "Forever Home" where she can finally feel safe and loved, enjoy exciting walks, be challenged, supported, and lovingly but consistently led, and simply experience a happy and carefree life, leaving her past behind. On February 23, 2026, a voluntary, Hungarian helper writes: "Serona came to the animal shelter in late July 2025. On the mentor day, she went for a walk with her favorite mentor. Serona is a people-oriented, friendly, and affectionate dog. During the walk, she enjoyed the cuddles and pampering from her mentor and actively sought out closeness. She was happy and glad that someone was taking care of her and giving her attention. She enjoyed every moment of the walk and sniffed curiously at her surroundings. Serona is active, lively, and full of movement. She runs beautifully on the leash." Who can be a loyal friend to Serona? Since Serona is a listehund mix, you must check with your local community about their housing permit requirements if you are interested in her. Serona can travel starting around the end of November 2025 if she has found a home or foster home.

DE·Show original

About Serona

What life with Serona looks like

Serona is a young adult dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Serona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Serona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Serona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Serona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Serona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Serona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Serona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
