Seven

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Gender: female Birthday: February 2024 Castrated/ Neutered: no Weight: 21.5kg (shoulder height: 55cm) Back story: Seven was wandering the streets (Feb' 26) and picked up by Olivia, our caretaker. Seven actually jumped in the car. She was taken to the vet where we found out she was carrying nine babies and is getting ready to birth them anyday. We also found out she has been shot with an airgun. Description/ Updates/ Pictures: Update August 2026: Seven is an incredibly smart dog. She’s active and extremely people-oriented. We’re currently working with her because she struggles to handle the dynamics of living with many dogs at the shelter. She has already made huge progress and is learning a lot every day. We would love to see her in a home without smaller animals. Seven has so much potential and is looking for someone who will continue working with her, guide her, and help her thrive. Update April 2026: Update February 2026: We have set up the little house in the back of the shelter to accommodate the mom to be. We were not ready for nine more dogs but that was Seven’s luck, someone to help her during this very challenging time. Update giving birth on the 4.2.2026: See how she came to us:

About Seven

What life with Seven looks like

Seven is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Souda Shelter in Chania.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Recently gave birth, has been shot with airgun, nursing mother with puppies

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Seven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Seven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Souda Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Seven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Seven if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Souda Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Seven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Seven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Souda Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Seven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
