Seven

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Update 27.07.2022 Seven, a ca. two-and-a-half-year-old herding rescue dog – mixed breed, came into my care three months ago. The hustle and bustle of shelter life caused him a lot of stress. But here at the foster home, he found peace. He slowly began to acclimate to his new environment, where so much was unfamiliar and sometimes intimidating, and gradually showed his true self. Seven learned incredibly quickly in a short time because he learns eagerly and well. Now, he responds kindly to people and larger children, though caution is still advised with smaller children due to his weight and temperament. He has also learned that other dogs can be nice and that playing with them can be great; now, he looks forward to every dog encounter. Seven is a very good guard dog and can now distinguish who belongs at home. At first, there was always a lot of excitement when guests came. Now, he goes to the front door and greets guests politely. Seven also loves car rides very much. He always looks forward to an adventure at the end of the ride, such as attending dog training classes. At the training classes, Seven learned a lot, and without the loving support of the trainer, Seven would not have become such a great dog so quickly. Now, Seven is looking for a "Forever Home" with people who have experience with dogs and can confidently guide him, consistently show him the rules, and continue to work with him so that he can safely navigate the dog world. Due to his size and genetic predisposition, Seven is not suitable for apartment living in the long term. To feel comfortable and be adequately stimulated, he needs a large garden. So, to all people who meet these requirements: Please contact the animal shelter.

About Seven

What life with Seven looks like

Seven is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Seven, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Seven?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Seven on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Seven if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Seven already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Seven isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Seven and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
