Adopt Shakira

Female · Adult · 8 years

This precious one here is Shakira, a golden-haired German shepherd who has absolutely won our hearts. She is 8 years old and everything about her is beautiful, especially her fur. She came from the sanitario, so we don't know much about her past, but what we do know is that we will do everything possible to ensure she finds a forever home. She is a super good and calm dog, especially on walks. She behaves phenomenally and doesn't pay any attention to the other dogs around her. It could be said that it's her moment, so she focuses on enjoying it. To describe her temperament, we can only use one word: amazing. She likes to play but once she gains confidence, she turns into a pool of cuddles! What a lucky family will adopt her! If you want to be that lucky family, please write to us and we will respond as soon as possible. Remember that it is necessary to reside in the province of Málaga to adopt her and her reference number is 23869.

About Shakira

What life with Shakira looks like

Shakira is a large adult dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shakira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shakira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shakira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shakira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shakira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shakira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shakira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
