Shakti

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Shakti is a lovely female dog who has already experienced a difficult loss - her beloved owner passed away and there was no one left to care for her. So she ended up in a shelter in Romania, where she now waits for her second chance. Despite everything, Shakti has not lost her friendly and loving nature. The young dog is described as particularly people-oriented, friendly and affectionate. She enjoys every attention and is happy about the closeness to her caregivers. Currently, Shakti sometimes shows some uncertainty, which is completely understandable after the changes in her life. With patience, love and understanding, she will certainly quickly gain trust and develop into a loyal companion. With her beautiful black coat, Shakti unfortunately belongs to the dogs that are often overlooked. Behind her gentle eyes lies a wonderful soul who longs for a home of her own where she can be loved and finally arrive. Her new family should be aware that we do not know exactly what Shakti's life has looked like so far. Since she already lived with an owner, she certainly knows how to live together. However, we cannot say for sure in which framework she lived, what she had learned and experienced so far. Therefore, we wish for Shakti people who meet her with patience and understanding and give her the time to settle into her new home. Visiting a positively working dog school can help build trust and strengthen the bond together. Shakti is chipped, vaccinated, dewormed and flea-free. She naturally has an EU pet passport and can travel to her new home after a positive pre-check and against a deposit fee. Who gives Shakti a loving home? This pretty dog would also be very happy about a foster home. A heartfelt thank you to Sabine, who gave Shakti her beautiful name and thus enabled her the chance for a fresh start. Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Shakti

What life with Shakti looks like

Shakti is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shakti, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shakti?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shakti on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shakti if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shakti already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shakti isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shakti and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
