Shania

Bengal · Female · Young · 2 years

Shania is a typical Bengal cat with a lot of personality. She is adventurous, active, and always curious. With her lively nature, her attention, and her charming demeanor, she quickly wins hearts. The beautiful Bengal lady is energetic, agile, and sometimes a bit cheeky - just typical Bengal. She loves to play, explore her surroundings, and be involved everywhere. Shania is lively, lively, and has a high energy level. She can also make herself heard if she wants attention. Once Shania has gained trust, she shows herself to be very affectionate, cuddly, and tame. She loves the proximity to her people, but can also be temperamental at times - especially when cuddling, she may suddenly bite. Basically, she is gentle, but if something doesn't suit her, her mood can change quickly. Shania is a self-confident little personality who knows exactly what she wants. Despite her temperamental nature, Shania is very loving, lovable, and cuddly. She enjoys the proximity to her people and shows herself to be brave, curious, and incredibly cute. Shania originally came to us because of uncleanliness. However, this behavior could no longer be observed with us. Nevertheless, it is not excluded that it could happen again. Shania is currently being switched to hypoallergenic food, as a food intolerance cannot be ruled out. She could probably have a food allergy, which is why she is looking for a sympathetic home that pays attention to her diet and takes her needs seriously. She is not always easy and cooperative during vet visits. For Shania, we wish a quiet home without children and without other pets, ideally with people with experience with Bengal cats. It is also important to have outdoor access in a rural, low-traffic area, so that she can live out her need for movement and enjoy her curious nature. Who is looking for an intelligent, affectionate, and strong-willed Bengal lady will find a very special companion in Shania.

DE·Show original

About Shania

What life with Shania looks like

Shania is a young adult bengal cat waiting at Tierheim beider Basel in Basel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shania, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shania?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim beider Basel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shania on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shania if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim beider Basel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shania already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shania isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim beider Basel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shania and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
