Adopt Shania

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

The pretty Shania had a rough start in life. No one was there for her, no one gave her security, safety, or trust. Despite this, she was lucky and got to travel to our animal shelter – now she waits there for her people and for the chance to finally settle in. Shania is a young, sensitive female dog who quickly gets worried. New situations or unfamiliar impressions greatly unsettle her and can put her in stress or panic. That’s why she needs people who can show her with calmness, patience, and clear guidance that the world is not dangerous. For Shania, we wish to find a confident only dog in her new home. She is very attuned to other dogs, closely observing their behavior and emulating much of it. In a dog group, she shows herself to be social, friendly, and playful – there she quickly becomes popular and can even become genuinely cheerful. One can see that Shania would like to be braver. Often she struggles with herself, wants to try something, and manages to do it only with help. Precisely here, she needs experienced and patient people who enjoy guiding an insecure dog into life and valuing small progress. Once Shania has built trust, she bonds closely with her primary caregiver and wants to do everything right. She wants to learn to overcome her fears and finally find safety. For this, she needs no pity or constant pampering, but competent, loving guidance, clear boundaries, and reliable structures. Shania is worth every effort. With the right support, she will develop into a happy, though sensitive companion who will bring great joy to her people. Still, the task should not be underestimated: Shania must first learn to live at home and learn many things from scratch. We are now looking for your people who have time, patience, competence, and love for Shania. It is a wonderful task to show the world to a dog, Shania has never had her own person and never had the chance to show what is in her. The bond she will form with her people will be very close and intimate.

About Shania

What life with Shania looks like

Shania is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Koblenz in Koblenz.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Shania, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Shania?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Koblenz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Shania on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Shania if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Koblenz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Shania already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Shania isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Koblenz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Shania and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
