SHANNA

Husky · Female · Young · 2 years

Arriving on May 7, 2026, the lovely Shanna is available for adoption! She’s currently at the shelter following a transfer from a pound; thus, her past remains unknown. Just a few days after her arrival at the shelter—and with no apparent signs beforehand—we were surprised one morning to discover that she had given birth to two puppies during the night. Shanna was an exceptional mother to Ace & Aïka, who were previously placed in loving homes and have both since been adopted. Now it’s Shanna’s turn to find a wonderful family of her own! The nursing period has been quite demanding, so we’ll need to make sure she regains her strength quickly if she’s soon matched with a new family. Shanna is a rather calm, attentive, and very gentle dog. As befits her breed, she’ll require plenty of activity and mental stimulation. Additionally, a securely fenced outdoor space will be essential. Shanna is sociable, and her future family should already have one or more canine companions; however, a meet-and-greet will still be necessary to confirm compatibility. On the other hand, we’ll avoid placing her with our feline friends. Shanna truly deserves happiness alongside a sweet and loving family—so come meet her today; you’re guaranteed to fall in love!!

About SHANNA

What life with SHANNA looks like

SHANNA is a large young adult husky dog waiting at SPA 65 Tarbes in Tarbes.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting SHANNA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about SHANNA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA 65 Tarbes handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw SHANNA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt SHANNA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA 65 Tarbes will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is SHANNA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if SHANNA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA 65 Tarbes early rather than rehoming privately; they know SHANNA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
